Storyboard

I have now drafted my storyboard for my animation. This animation will take inspiration from both the old and new Star Wars films, combining elements of both. To begin I have attached a picture of my storyboard below. I will then go into some detail with some attached videos showing where I have pulled my inspiration from.

The beginning scene has the ships warping in from off camera. This is a common technique used in Star Wars and looks really cool. The way the ships zip in from off screen gives the effect of immense speed. The clip below shows how they achieve this effect and is taken from the Rogue One movie.

The next scene has the ships flying towards each other, shooting at and manoeuvring around each other in the air. I wanted to include a few scenes that were aerial dogfights as I feel they are the most impactful and exciting scenes from the space fights in the Star Wars films. This is another clip taken from the Rogue One film to show where I got my inspiration for this scene.

In scene 4 and 5 the Aethersprite and A-Wing are chasing the Tie Interceptors. I wanted to have the ships swoop past the camera like in the clip below, with one of the ships colliding into an asteroid as this happens a lot in the Star Wars movies (a ship trying to chase and momentum taking them into an obstacle). The clip below is from Star Wars episode 6, during the battle for Endor.

During the final scene the Aethersprite uses an asteroid to fool the last Tie Interceptor into thinking it had vanished. This is a direct reference to the scene in which Obi-Wan evades the Slave-1 from Star Wars episode 2 - Attack of the Clones. I thought this would be a clever use of the asteroids in my scene and a good way to end the skirmish with the Aethersprite outsmarting the Tie Interceptor.

I will discuss this storyboard with my tutor in the coming weeks and document any changes that may have to be made on here in the coming weeks.
